Assoc. Prof. Dr. Çiğdem Karadağ
After graduating third in her class from Konya Karatay Anatolian High School, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Çiğdem Karadağ entered Selçuk University Meram Faculty of Medicine, Konya, in 2002. In her final year at the faculty, she completed her surgical clerkships at Ghent University in Ghent, Belgium, taking an active part in operations. After graduating from medical school in 2008, she began her specialty training in Plastic, Aesthetic and Reconstructive Surgery at the same faculty. During her residency, she attended many national and international congresses and presented her scientific work. In 2013, having been awarded a TÜBİTAK scholarship, she worked for one year as a “Clinical Research Fellow” in the Department of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery at Mayo Clinic, the world-renowned healthcare institution in the United States, and took part in aesthetic operations.
During her time in the USA, she carried out numerous scientific studies. One of them, a clinical study entitled “Mastectomy Skin Flap Necrosis Following Skin Sparing Mastectomy and Immediate Reconstruction: A Risk Factor Analysis”, was included in the ‘‘Best Paper Panel’’ at the Chang Gung – Mayo Clinic Symposium in Reconstructive Surgery held in Taiwan in 2014. After training at the Mayo Clinic Microvascular Surgery Training Centre, she passed the subsequent examination and received a ‘Microsurgery Certificate’.
After returning from the USA, she completed her experimental thesis entitled ‘Pinealektomize Ratlarda Melatoninin Yanık Yara İyileşmesine Etkisinin Araştırılması’ and was awarded the title of Plastic, Aesthetic and Reconstructive Surgery Specialist.
Having successfully passed the written part in 2016 and the oral part in 2019 of the board examination held in Brussels, Belgium, by the European Association of Plastic Surgeons, she was awarded the European Board Certificate in Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery (European Board of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery, EBOPRAS).
After completing her compulsory service at Konya Numune Hospital between 2014 and 2016, in 2016 she began working as a Plastic, Aesthetic and Reconstructive Surgery Specialist at Acıbadem Kozyatağı Hospital and Acıbadem Ataşehir Medical Centre in Istanbul. In 2017, she became a faculty member at Acıbadem University with the title of Asst. Prof. Dr. From that same year until September 2022, she worked as a Plastic, Aesthetic and Reconstructive Surgery Specialist at Acıbadem Altunizade Hospital. During these years, she also performed aesthetic stem cell treatments as the Physician in Charge of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery at the Acıbadem Altunizade Hospital Stem Cell Centre. During the same period, she also served as the physician in charge of the hospital’s Hair Transplant Centre.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Karadağ has scientific articles published in international and national journals. Her scientific studies on breast aesthetic surgery and stem cell applications have been published in high-impact international indexed journals.
Having been awarded the title of Associate Professor in October 2022, Dr. Karadağ has, since December 2022, continued to carry out treatments and non-surgical medical aesthetic procedures at her own private practice on Bağdat Avenue. While Dr. Karadağ works in almost every area of plastic and aesthetic surgery, she has a particular interest in breast aesthetics, abdominal aesthetics and facial aesthetics . She also performs aesthetic stem cell treatments at her private practice.
She is an active member of the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (ISAPS), the Turkish Society of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery, EPCD (Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery), RMCD (Society of Reconstructive Microsurgery) and the Istanbul Medical Chamber.
