Assoc. Prof. Çiğdem Karadağ, MD
Assoc. Prof. Çiğdem Karadağ, MD, was born in 1984 in Konya. After graduating from Konya Karatay Anatolian High School ranking third, she entered Konya Selçuk University Meram Faculty of Medicine in 2002. In her last year at the faculty, she completed her surgical internship at Ghent University in Ghent, Belgium where she actively attended surgeries. After graduating from the medical school in 2008, she started her residency in Plastic, Aesthetic and Reconstructive Surgery at the same faculty. During her residency, she attended many national and international congresses and presented her scientific studies. After winning TUBITAK scholarship in 2013, she worked as a “Clinical Research Fellow” and attended surgeries for a period of one year at the Division of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery at Mayo Clinic, the world-renowned clinic located in the United States.
During her time in the United States, she conducted many scientific studies. One of her clinical studies, entitled “Mastectomy Skin Flap Necrosis Following Skin Sparing Mastectomy and Immediate Reconstruction: A Risk Factor Analysis”, was presented at the “Best Paper Panel” in Chang Gung – Mayo Clinic Symposium in Reconstructive Surgery Congress held in Taiwan in 2014. After receiving training at Mayo Clinic’s Microvascular Surgery Training Center, she passed the exam and received a ‘Microsurgery Certificate’.
After her return from the United States, she completed her experimental thesis entitled “Investigation of the Effect of Melatonin on Healing of Burn Wounds In Pinealectomized Rats” and received the title of Plastic, Aesthetic and Reconstructive Surgery Specialist.
Successfully passing the written and oral parts of the proficiency exam conducted by the European Association of Plastic Surgeons in Brussels, Belgium, in 2016 and 2019 respectively, she was awarded the certificate of competency issued by the European Board of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery (EBOPRAS).
After completing her compulsory service at Konya Numune Hospital between 2014 and 2016, she started working as a Plastic, Aesthetic and Reconstructive Surgery Specialist at Istanbul Acıbadem Kozyatağı Hospital and Acıbadem Ataşehir Medical Center in 2016. In 2017, she became a lecturer with the title of Assistant Professor at Acıbadem University. Since the same year, she has worked as a Plastic, Aesthetic and Reconstructive Surgery Specialist at Acıbadem Altunizade Hospital. She is interested in almost every field of plastic and aesthetic surgery, by particularly in mammoplasty, abdominoplasty and facial aesthetics. She also performs stem cell procedures, as the physician responsible for Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery at the Stem Cell Center of Acıbadem Altunizade Hospital. In addition, she is the physician responsible for the Hospital’s Hair Transplantation Center.
Assoc. Prof. Çiğdem Karadağ, MD has written scientific articles published in national international journals. She continues her office and scientific studies on mammoplasty and stem cell procedures.
She is an active member of the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (ISAPS), Turkish Society of Plastic Reconstructive, and Aesthetic Surgery, EPCD (Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery), RMCD (Turkish Society for Reconstructive Microsurgery), and Istanbul Chamber of Medicine.
